FINAL

MINUTES
GLENVIEW HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
January 10, 2005

Call to Order by the Chairman
The January 10, 2005, meeting of the Glenview Historic Preservation Commission was
called to order by Chairman Silver at 7:30 p.m. in the Lunch Room of the Village Hall.

Roll Call and Declaration of a Quorum
Roll call was taken, and Chairman Silver noted that a quorum was present.

PRESENT:

Commissioners Conway, Dawson, Kramer,
Pappas, Wendy, and Chairman Silver

ABSENT:

Commissioner Morrison

ALSO PRESENT: Helen Wiseman, Licensed Architect and Staff Liaison

VISITORS:

Mr. Warren Fellingham, Treasurer, Glenview Historical Society
Mr. Don Long, President, Glenview Historical Society
Mrs. Mary Long, Attorney and wife of Mr. Don Long

Chairman Silver chose to take agenda items out of order as the Petitioner requested early
discussion on landmark designation of 1121 Waukegan Road.

New Business
6.a. HP2004-01 - 1121 Waukegan - Landmark Designation - Commonly known as
Farmhouse Museum of the Glenview Area Historical Society
Commissioner Dawson recused herself from discussion on this matter.

Mr. Warren Fellingham performed a great deal of research to locate drawings which
formed the basis for the 1864 farmhouse. In that era, pattern books were common. People
used them to identify a house, style, various frontages, and floor plans.

Searching for more information, Mr. Fellingham found that the Library of Congress housed
much material. Additionally, some information was garnered from the internet. Mr.
Fellingham assembled this documentation and distributed it to Commissioners at the
meeting entitled, "A Discussion of the Origins of the Design of the Farmhouse Building
that now Houses the Museum of the Glenview Area Historical Society." On page eight of
this document is a photograph of a farmhouse that is very similar in style to 1121
Waukegan Road. The Glenview farmhouse was built for John Hutchings on a farm of
several acres. Chairman Silver thanked Mr. Fellingham for his efforts.
