FINAL MINUTES GLENVIEW HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION May 8, 2006 Call to Order by the Chairman The May 8, 2006, meeting of the Glenview Historic Preservation Commission was called to order by Chairman Silver at 7:38 p.m. in the Lunch Room of the Village Hall. Roll Call and Declaration of a Quorum Roll call was taken, and Chairman Silver noted that a quorum was present. PRESENT: Commissioners Conway, Kramer, Pappas, and Chairman Silver ABSENT: Commissioners Dawson and Wendy ALSO PRESENT: Ms. Lisa Porter, Staff Liaison Approval of Minutes Chairman Silver asked for corrections or comments to Minutes of the Historic Preservation Commission meeting of April 10, 2006. Page two, ninth paragraph, first line should read “ … Commissioner Wendy’s Handbook will …”. Commissioner Conway moved to approve the April 10, 2006 Minutes as corrected. Commissioner Kramer seconded the motion. Upon voice vote the motion carried 3-0. General Communications Chairman Silver told Commissioners he visited Loudon County, Virginia near Manassas with the Civil War Round Table whose members include some top American History experts. The group toured some of Virginia’s historic sites. In the last five years this area has grown so fast that roads are not being built fast enough so there is tremendous gridlock. There is a great deal of construction in this historic area, which means that many landmark buildings and sites are being lost every year. The Disney Co. wanted to build a theme park in the area but was denied permission. Glenview’s Historic Preservation Commission members whose terms will end in June, 2006 are Chairman Silver and Commissioner Kramer. Ms. Porter will inquire as to the term date for Commissioner Conway. Pending Business 5.a. Discussion Regarding May 13, 2006 Workshop During the Workshop, if a question is asked that cannot be immediately answered, Commissioners will research the answer and contact the resident at a later time.
