MINUTES
GLENVIEW HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
DECEMBER 10, 2001
The December 10, 2001, meeting of the Glenview Historic Preservation Commission was called to
order by Chairman David Silver at 7:30 PM in the Board Room of the Village Hall. Ms. Wiseman
took roll call. Chairman Silver noted that a quorum present.

PRESENT:

Commissioners Browne, Dawson, Dickson, Ireland, Kramer, Neymark, and
Chairman Silver

ABSENT:

Commissioners Morrison and Reder

ALSO PRESENT:

Helen Wiseman, Licensed Architect and Staff Liaison
Mary Bak, Director of Development

Chairman Silver asked for any corrections to the November 12, 2001, minutes.
Page 7, paragraph 3, was corrected to read as follows: Commissioner Kramer referred back
to the survey stating that for this commission to be an active group, the building stock has to
be identified. To wait for funding to get the survey to identify properties for designation
would make sense. He felt it was important to have the RFPs distributed so that the
commission could go before the board with some cost figures and possibilities of state
reimbursement. One phase of the survey could be going on while the commission is
working on the marketing plan.

Page 2 - The last sentence of Chairman Silver's letter to the Park District Board should
read: We are ready to cooperate with you anytime you feel we can offer any assistance.

Commissioner Dickson made a motion to accept the minutes as corrected. Commissioner Dawson
seconded the motion. Upon voice vote, motion carried.

General Communications -

Chairman Silver new e-mail address is: dpsilver3~attbi.com

The new HPC Commissioner Directory will be distributed soon after the new commissioners are
appointed so that they, too, will be included in the directory.

Ms. Wiseman read a letter from the Landmarks Preservation Council of Illinois (LPCI), which
offered the HPC a one-year free group membership to the LPCI. (See Addendum A)

The village has authorized a $10,000 budget for the HPC for the year 2002. Chairman Silver stated
that the village board did state that should money be needed for a survey, the HPC could go back to
the board with "some hard figures" to request funding. Chairman Silver also commented that some
of the items in the HPC proposed budget were for "future" items so he felt that the commission was
in good shape at this time.
