MINUTES
GLENVIEW HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
JUNE 11, 2001
The June 11, 2001, meeting of the Glenview Historic Preservation Commission was called to
order by Chairman David Silver at 7:35 PM in the Board Room of the Village Hall. Ms.
Wiseman took roll call. Chairman Silver noted that there was a quorum present.

PRESENT: Commissioners Browne, Dawson, Eich, Kramer, Morrison, Neymark,
Ruter, and Chairman Silver

ABSENT: Commissioners Dickson and Reder

ALSO PRESENT: Helen Wiseman, Licensed Architect and Staff Liaison

Chairman Silver asked for comments or changes to the May 14, 2001, minutes of the Historic
Preservation Commission meeting. Changes are as follows:
Proposed
- Page 2 paragraph 2, Ms Wiseman noted that it should read “…revision of the
Rules and Procedures”
not “…revision of the Landmark Nomination Form.”
- Page 7, Commissioner Dawson clarified that the commission had decided that it would
not be appropriate for two entities (Glenview Historical Society and the Historic
Preservation Commission) to share a booth at the Glenview Street Sale.
- Commissioner Morrison asked that her e-mail sent to each commissioner regarding the
1771 Dewes property be included in the minutes in its entirety. The e-mail reads as
follows: ‘Upon review of our “special meeting” on April 26, I find the meeting was
flawed by lack of information and misinformation. An important point was made of the
omission of 1771 Dewes from the McGuire report of 1998. It was emphasized that
several addresses on that Dewes Street block were evaluated, and the fact that 1771 was
not listed was taken to put that house in a non-historic category. The fact is that Ms.
McGuire was directed to survey the D1 zoning district and the south side of Dewes Street
is not in D1. However, the north side of Dewes is in D1 and that is where the buildings
were examined. 1771 is on the south side and that is why there was an omission of that
house. I regret that the Commission was misled. You can find this information in the
McGuire report on page 13 under Survey methodology and the area map.’

Commissioner Kramer moved to accept the May 14, 2001, minutes as amended. Commissioner
Dawson seconded the motion. Upon voice vote, motion passed.

Chairman Silver asked for General Communications. Ms. Wiseman referred to a flyer draft from
Commissioner Dickson that was distributed to the commissioners for consideration by the HPC.
Commissioner Dickson will also e-mail a logo that the HPC may consider using. As of the
meeting time, Ms. Wiseman had not received the logo. Chairman Silver asked that the proposed
flyer be discussed later in the meeting.

Ms. Wiseman also stated that the colors for the Landmark Nomination and District Forms were
reversed.

Chairman Silver asked for comments on the final revisions of the forms. There was a brief
discussion on the color of the applications for photocopying purposes. The light yellow color
