MINUTES <br />GLENVIEW HISTORIC PRESERVATON COMMISSION <br />February 12, 2001 <br />The February 12, 2001, meeting of the Glenview Historic Preservation Commission was <br />called to order by Chairman David Silver at 7:30 PM in the Board Room of the Village <br />Hall. Chairman Silver noted that there was a quorum present. Ms. Wiseman took roll <br />call. <br /> <br />PRESENT: Commissioners Browne, Eich, Kramer, Morrison, Neymark, <br />Reder, and Chairman Silver <br /> <br />ABSENT: Commissioners Dawson, Dickson, Hussman, and Ruter <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: Helen Wiseman, Registered Architect and Staff Liaison <br /> <br />Chairman Silver asked for corrections to the minutes of the January 8, 2001 meeting. <br />th <br />Ms. Wiseman noted that the 5 sentence of the second paragraph should read as follows: <br />A tentative list of dates for the Village of Glenview Historical Preservation Commission <br />was also distributed to the commissioners. Commissioner Kramer made a motion to <br />accept the minutes as amended. Commissioner Morrison seconded the motion. Upon <br />voice vote, motion carried. Commissioner Morrison commented that she found the <br />minutes very helpful. <br /> <br />Chairman Silver asked if there were any general communications. Ms. Wiseman stated <br />that she gave the commissioners a copy of the letter Chairman Silver drafted for <br />notification of proposed landmark status to property owners when someone other than the <br />property owner has filed the application. Chairman Silver stated that he attempted to <br />keep it simple, factual, and straightforward. A discussion of the proposed letter would <br />follow the speaker. <br /> <br />Chairman Silver introduced David Erck, former chairman of Wilmette’s Landmark <br />Wilmete <br />Commission. Mr. Erck gave each of the commissioners a copy of the <br />Preservation <br />, a guide to the historic preservation in the Village of Wilmette and a <br />Wilmette Audio Architecture Tour of Historic Ridge Road. <br />cassette of the <br /> <br />Mr. Erck gave a brief history of Wilmette’s Preservation Commission stating that it has <br />been existence for 8-9 years. The Wilmette Historical Organization broke in two: half <br />becoming the Historical Society and half becoming the Historic Preservation <br />Commission. <br /> <br />The Wilmette Historical Preservation Commission – <br />- Has a total of nine active members. <br />- Property owner of record must be the person nominating the property for landmark <br />status. <br />- 24 buildings, both residential and commercial, have local landmark status. <br />- Local landmark designation falls into several different categories. For example, <br />someone of historical importance in Wilmette lived in the home or the property was <br />designed by a prominent architect or has a particular architectural style. <br />
