MINUTES <br /> GLENVIEW HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br /> OCTOBER 14, 2002 <br />The October 14, 2002, meeting of the Glenview Historic Preservation Commission was called to <br />order by Chairman Silver at 7:30 PM in the Board Room of the Village Hall. Chairman Silver <br />asked for a moment of silence for those who lost lives in the terrorist attacks in the past week. <br /> <br />Bob Hammer, staff liaison, took Roll Call. Chairman Silver noted that a quorum was present. <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br /> <br />Commissioners Dawson, Ireland, Kramer, Neymark and Chairman Silver <br /> <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Commissioner Morrison and Helen Wiseman <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: Bob Hammer, Staff Liaison <br /> <br />Also at the meeting were the owner and representatives for the Glenview House, which was <br />under discussion. In attendance were: <br /> Leon Hamilton and Jay Hamilton, owners, Jim Herbert, Manager, and Patrick Pontarelli <br /> of Miller, Forest & Downing, representing the Glenview House. <br /> <br />Chairman Silver asked for corrections to the minutes of the September 9 Historic Preservation <br />Commission meeting. <br />Page 2, 5th paragraph should read Richmond, IL and not Richmond, WI <br />Page 2, 2nd paragraph should read ... if a site is going to be nominated for national landmark <br />status.., not gong. <br />Page 4, 4th paragraph should read: Commissioner Kramer suggested that the case be continued <br />to the next meeting. <br /> <br />Commissioner Kramer moved to accept the minutes as corrected. Commissioner Neymark <br />seconded the motion. Minutes were accepted as amended. <br /> <br />Discussion was opened on the Glenview House since representatives were present. Chairman <br />Silver asked for comments or questions from the previous meeting. Patrick Pontarelli, <br />representing the Hamiltons, asked what progress was made by the commission toward <br />certification and could the commission estimate the time flame for certification. <br /> <br />Chairman Silver replied that staff was working on it and was hoping to have the application for <br />certification ready to submit to the state by the end of 2002. He also stated that if the Glenview <br />House was designated as a landmark site, they could still apply for funds for any renovations <br />made after the site was approved and once certification was granted. <br /> <br />Mr. Pontarelli stated that the owner of the property and the business are two different entities. <br />He was concerned about specific maintenance items and improvements the business would like <br />to make. They are questioning whether or not they can move forward with the items before they <br />receive landmark designation if designation should occur. If landmark designation occurs, the <br />owners are questioning what they can and cannot do to the building, and if they could "recoup" <br />any of the funds by way of tax credits or a grant. Mr. Pontarelli stated that three items need to <br />be done in the near future which may fall under the purvey of the HPC if the building is <br />designated: <br /> <br /> <br />
