MINUTES <br /> GLENVIEW HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br /> NOVEMBER 11, 2002 <br />The November 11, 2002, meeting of the Glenview Historic Preservation Commission was called <br />to order by Chairman Silver at 7:40 PM in the Board Room of the Village Hall. Roll call was <br />taken, and Chairman Silver noted that a quorum was present. <br /> <br />PRESENT: Commissioners Dawson, Ireland, Morrison, Neymark and Chairman <br /> Silver <br /> <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Commissioner Kramer <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: Helen Wiseman, Licensed Architect and Staff Liaison <br /> <br />Also in attendance was Mike Luxem of 812 Greenwood. <br /> <br />Chairman Silver asked for corrections or comments to the October 14, 2002, minutes of the <br />Historic Preservation Commission meeting. <br />· The spelling of Keck was corrected on page 5. <br />· Page 3 - An inaudible response was clarified to read: The reply was, "No, not at this time. <br /> This is not for national certification." <br />Commissioner Dawson moved to approve the October 14, 2002 minutes as amended. <br />Commissioner Ireland seconded the motion. Upon voice vote, motion carried. <br /> <br />General Communications- <br />Ms. Wiseman mentioned the downtown survey and that a listing would be distributed at <br />discussion time. <br /> <br />Commissioner Ireland referenced a Keck home at Coronet and Glenview Road. Ground has now <br />been broken to build a home on the lot (10,000 square feet) adjacent to the Keck home. The <br />home under construction is proposed to be 2 1/2 stories tall, 4,200 square feet, and will impact the <br />"view of the street." of that house and in particular the solar feature of the Keck home. The <br />Keck home is on the southeast corner of the intersection, and the home under construction is on <br />the southwest corner of the Keck home and will take away the sunlight. Commissioner Morrison <br />commented that it is a true solar home with the south and west being exposed to glass. The <br />discussion was for information only. The HPC can't do anything about it. <br /> <br />Old Business - <br />Chairman Silver asked the commissioners how they felt about issuing a press release, with <br />permission of the Hamiltons, regarding the consideration of landmark status of the Glenview <br />House? Commissioner Neymark felt that it was premature since the HPC was not sure of the <br />Hamilton's decision. Commissioner Ireland thought it might be best to wait until the next <br />meeting when the Hamiltons decide whether or not the Glenview House will be considered for <br />landmark status. Commissioner Ireland also stated that the press release was a good point and <br />felt that the HPC should discuss it at the conclusion of the December meeting after the Hamilton <br />representatives were excused. The press release topic will be put on the agenda. <br /> <br />Regarding the Certified Local Government application - <br />Chairman Silver asked staff if there was anything the HPC could do to help with the application <br />process. Ms. Wiseman replied that staff has made "a lot of headway" with it. The necessary <br /> <br /> <br />
